I CANNOT NOT COMMUNICATE AT VITS? NEW YORK
An exhibition of Amazon’s book recommendations.

Vits? may be known best for its Dieter Rams-designed furniture and fixtures, but the London-based company also has a long history of sharing and promoting the work of other creatives. Case in point is its recent New York display of artist Martin John Callanan’s I Cannot Not Communicate, which consisted of “the top 100 books recommended to Callanan by Amazon, based on everything he read and bought since the online retail giant first launched its recommendation algorithm over 15 years ago.”
Quite appropriately, the books were displayed on Vits?’s iconic 606 shelves and surrounded by 620 chairs and 621 tables, making the experience as comfortable and functional for guests as it was artistic. To accompany the installation, Callanan also produced a Risographed pamphlet, including a text by Marialaura Ghidini.
