與金銀銅鐵同列入五種常見金屬，錫在現在社會卻常常被忽略，背後的原委，離不開工業生產獨厚鋁金屬和不鏽鋼，而錫金屬因為提取過程複雜，相對亦成本較高，使這種曾受到達官貴人青睞、常見於於高端食器的材質，消失在大眾的視野之外。
Woo Collective是成立於2015年的台灣品牌，其團隊曾拜師台灣國寶級錫藝家陳萬能，學習鑄造錫器技巧，並研習自然材鑄造法、煙燻上色等新派技法。經兩年蘊釀後，品牌開發出以醇酒為目的的「浪雲醇酒球」、「浪雲醇酒針」等一系列錫工藝產品，並榮獲多個國際設計大賞。
據品牌網站所載，錫被喻為一種會呼吸的金屬，其無毒無味的特性，加之能產生負離子以淨化水質，有類近於備長炭的效果；因而在古代中國的井底，抑或在日本酒文化的器物當中，都可以發現錫工藝的身影。
利用錫的淨化特質，Woo Collective開發出「浪雲醇酒」的系列商品，其可用於紅酒醒酒，提升威士忌醇厚度，以及去除清酒雜味。「浪雲醇酒」以漩渦狀設計，使酒液能順著螺旋坑紋流淌，壓抑酒體本身的辛辣、苦澀，口味更顯醇厚。而就算是不嗜酒的朋友，也可以考慮品牌的「純錫烈酒杯」；因錫本身對清水有淨化、使甘甜的作用，用於茶飲也相當不錯。
Compared to gold, silver, copper and iron, tin is often overlooked by the market. Hindered by the complicated process of extraction, the manufacturing of tin is comparatively costly. Even if it was once favored by the aristocracy and was once a popular material in producing high-end tableware, tin has a rather insignificant presence in the contemporary society as industrial production is in general predominated by aluminum and stainless steel.
The Taiwanese brand Woo Collective was founded in 2015. The team visited the Taiwanese master tinsmith Chen Wan-neng to learn the craft of casting tin. They also redefined the finishing technique by applying brushed surfaces that replicate the wood and fabric textures on tin wares and the more modern incense coloring method. After two years of development, the brand finally launched the “Liquor Perfection Collection” tin-wares that are used to purify alcohol. The design also brought to the brand multiple international design awards.
As mentioned on the brand’s website, tin is a material that possesses “typically an ultra-pragmatic choice for its non-toxic, easy-to-clean and odourless qualities”, it is also capable of distilling water by producing anion. For this reason, tin was often used in ancient wells in China or utensils used in Japanese drinking culture.
Woo Collective applies tin’s capacity to purify into making the “Liquor Perfection Collection”. The tin-ware allows the red wine to breathe, gives whiskey a fuller body and remove some of the bitterness from wine. Liquid can slide down smoothly along the spiral shape, the spiciness and bitterness are taken away along the way; the process brings out the best of the wine or liquor’s essence. The brand’s “Pure Tin Straight Glass” can purify both liquor and tea, it can be a great gift for tea lovers.
